Electric buses that weave their way around the one-way systems and out to all corners of the city and beyond. Two major train stations connecting you to the whole country. The Glasgow subway offers frequent tubes from 15 stations which take only minutes. Unlike underground transportation offerings in other cities around the world, Glasgow’s ‘Clockwork Orange’ is unique. You literally can’t get lost. It has only one circular route. If you miss your stop you can just sit tight and it’ll come back around!

You could also drive yourself into the Low Emissions Zone (LEZ), if your vehicle complies with government regulations, or you could park just outside the zone and walk the last little bit.

Eating out

Most of which can be enjoyed during a lunch break as well as after work.

Street Art

Murals abound on the gable ends of several tenement buildings. The 17-meter tall edifices make ample canvases for creativity. One street in the merchant city is painted entirely in rainbow colours. Where else would you find sculpted skulls and stonework unicorns?

Architecture

Taking a walk around the town at lunch time you can appreciate some of the stunning 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st century architecture. Examples of Glasgow’s Rennie Macintosh and Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson adorn the main streets in the city centre. The Glasgow Cathedral is a magnificent 12th century construction. If your taste is more modernist than medieval you can marvel at the Strathclyde Student’s Union or take a short taxi trip to the Science Centre (SC) or Riverside Museum (RM).

Shopping

Who can resist a cheeky wee shop on the way home? It means you can pick up some essentials before hopping on the train. It might be that raincoat you’ve been eyeing in a boutique window or something for tonight’s tea.
